Fun with paper and Origami.

The other day and for whatever reason I read my horoscope. It was incredible.
To quote, it said, "Write, draw and create."  How fun is that.
I also had great weekend. It was spent at a 2 day workshop from the Chicago Calligraphy Collective. The workshop was given by Cherryl Moote CZT (mootepoints.org). We made dimensional accordions books, rotating cards, and a 3D pyramid exploding book. She also showed us a paper bargello technique. I came away with a ton of new ideas for combining origami and tangles.
Here are a few pictures of what I made.

Positive and Negative

I cut a template out with my silhouette die cutting machine with black cardstock. I originally had a different purpose in mind but after looking at it I had the sudden urge to tangle it. Of course then I couldn't decide if I wanted to use the positive portion of it or the negative. You guessed it, I decided to do both. I used the same tangles on them. It's surprising to see how different they look.
Perhaps I should do a ZIA class like this.
Here are the results.

New Tangle

I've created a new tangle based on iron work I saw while out shopping.
Here is the piece I saw.
And here is the new tangle. I'm calling it IROK, short for IRon woRK.

Selling a wooden box on eBay

I had quit a few people ask if I was ever going to sell any of my wooden boxes. I hadn't though about doing that till I was asked. So as requested here is a link to an eBay listing for one of them.

I'll have to see how this goes and maybe I'll do more. Let me know what you think.

I'm still around...

I'm still getting use to blogging and lately I've seem to have failed. It doesn't mean I haven't been busy drawing, I just haven't posted anything... I plan to get better at it this year.
One of my bigger projects was a gift for my daughter Jessica. I couldn't post that before Christmas for obvious reason but I can post it now.
Jessica also loves to draw. For Christmas I got her some drawing pens. I wanted something special to store them in so I decided they needed a special box. I bought a good size wooden box and covered it with tangles. I lined the inside of the box with felt and decorative paper. My husband did the sanding and sealing and added the clasp. I was very pleased with the end results and Jessica loved it.
Here are a few photos of the finished box.
